How KU Leuven Uses Jellypod

As a professor at KU Leuven, one of the oldest and largest universities in Belgium, Kris Vanhaecht teaches hundreds of future doctors about patient safety and quality care every year. He wanted to make his lectures and teaching materials more accessible to students.

Beyond his students, he also wanted to share his expertise internationally with colleagues and healthcare professionals who speak different languages—but he wasn't fluent in French, German, or other languages his audience needed.

Jellypod became an indispensable tool for transforming his lectures and teaching materials into audio episodes that students could listen to anywhere. One student even told Kris he listened to a new episode every night while taking a walk, making study time both productive and relaxing.

The breakthrough came with voice cloning. Kris created a French-language episode in his own voice to share with his parents—they had no idea it was generated by AI. Suddenly, he realized he could make content in multiple languages for colleagues and students worldwide.

Instead of just repeating lecture slides, he could summarize complex research, talk honestly about the challenges clinicians face, and highlight "mango moments"—those small acts of kindness that create positive memories for patients and their families.

Requests started coming in for different French dialects and German. Now, Kris connects with a global classroom without language barriers—reaching more people and scaling his voice to a broader audience than was ever before possible.

The feedback was incredible. Students said it helped them feel less alone. Healthcare professionals from other countries found value in hearing relatable stories about success, struggle, and growth in medicine.

His colleagues began using his podcasts as resources for their own teaching, especially in other countries where his material was relevant. His reach kept expanding on platforms like Spotify, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
