Creating Your First Podcast
Set up a new podcast series in minutes, from title to final details.
How to Create a Podcast Series#
A podcast is a series. It contains a title, description, hosts, and series-level settings. Episodes are the individual entries in your podcast series, each with their own audio, video, and distribution. Think of the podcast as the container, and episodes as the content inside it.
- Click Podcasts in the sidebar.
- Click the New Podcast button.
- Follow the steps below to configure your podcast series.
Step 1: Title#
Enter your podcast title in the large centered input field. This is what listeners see on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and your podcast website. Keep it clear, memorable, and descriptive. Titles are capped at 100 characters.
Step 2: Description#
Write a compelling description that will appear on your podcast website, in podcast directories like Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and in your RSS feed. It supports bold, italics, and other formatting.
Think of it as your elevator pitch: who is this for, and what will they get?
Step 3: Knowledge Base (Optional)#
Add source material that Jellypod uses as context when creating episodes. You can add up to 3 sources at the podcast level.
Sources added here apply to every episode in the series. Use them for recurring reference material like brand guidelines or company overviews.
- Upload sources: Drag and drop or click to upload files (PDFs, audio, etc.)
- Website: Paste a URL to pull in web content
- YouTube: Add a YouTube video link
- Paste Text: Enter plain text directly
Episode-specific sources are added later when you create individual episodes. Podcast-level sources are for material shared across all episodes.
Step 4: Choose Your Hosts#
Choose the AI narrators of your podcast. Select from your existing hosts to assign them to this podcast series. Every episode will use these hosts by default, though individual episodes can override them.
Use the play button next to any host to preview their voice before selecting. If you have at least two hosts selected, click Preview Host Conversation to hear a short sample of them talking together.
Step 5: Podcast Categories#
Choose up to 2 categories that determine where your podcast appears in directories like Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
We recommend using the Generate Categories button to let Jellypod suggest the best fit based on your title and description, rather than browsing manually.
Step 6: Add Cover Art#
Cover art is the face of your podcast across every platform and directory. What you choose for your cover is one of the most important decisions that influences whether a listener will click on your podcast.
You can upload your own image (must be square, between 1400x1400 and 3000x3000 pixels), or let Jellypod automatically generate cover art for you if one's not provided. You can always update it later, and each episode can have its own cover art too.
Step 7: Additional Settings#
There are a few additional settings that you can optionally configure for your podcast. The language will influence the language the scripts are generated in. You can also set the podcast type (episodic or serial), configure your visibility, and add social links.
- Author: The person or organization credited in podcast directories
- Language: Defaults to English; 30+ languages supported
- Type: Episodic (listeners can start anywhere, most shows) or Serial (episodes in chronological order)
- Visibility: Unlisted (direct link only) or Public (discoverable on Spotify, Apple, YouTube)
- Social Links: Add links to Instagram, YouTube, X, Discord, Website, and more
- Configure Domain: Set up a custom domain
- Analytics: Track episode plays and downloads
- Show Transcripts: Display episode transcripts on your podcast website (improves SEO and accessibility)
Your Podcast Is Ready#
After creating, you are redirected to your new podcast page in the studio. From here, you can create your first episode.
