Using Accents and Languages
Generate podcast episodes in 29+ languages with native accents using Jellypod's multilingual voice support.
Supported Languages#
Jellypod supports the following languages:
English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Portuguese, Chinese, German, Japanese, Arabic, Russian, Korean, Indonesian, Italian, Dutch, Turkish, Polish, Swedish, Filipino, Malay, Romanian, Ukrainian, Greek, Czech, Danish, Finnish, Bulgarian, Croatian, Slovak, and Tamil.
How Accents Work#
Every voice in the Voice Library can speak all supported languages. The Primary Language shown in the Voice Library determines the voice's native accent, not which languages it can produce.
For example, a voice with "Spanish" as its primary language will speak English with a Spanish accent, and will sound fully native when generating Spanish content.
Selecting a Language#
When creating a host, the language is determined by the voice you select:
- On the Voice Type step, choose Voice Library.
- In the Voice Library, use the search bar to filter by language (e.g., type "Japanese").
- The Primary Language column shows each voice's native accent, plus a "+N more" indicator confirming it can speak additional languages.
- Select a voice with the accent you want.
The Voice Library automatically sorts voices to prioritize your browser's language, so voices matching your locale appear first.
Horizon Voice Model#
For the best multilingual quality, use the Horizon voice model. It is the latest engine and handles emotion, pacing, and emphasis across languages significantly better than the Classic model.
Horizon is selected by default for all new hosts. To verify or change the voice model:
- When creating or editing a host, go to the Settings step (Step 7).
- Expand Additional Settings.
- Confirm Voice Model is set to Horizon.
If you need a specific accent for your host, pick a voice whose primary language matches the accent you want, even if your episodes will be in a different language. A French-primary voice speaking English will have a natural French accent.
Frequently Asked Questions#
Can one voice speak multiple languages?
Yes. Every voice in the Voice Library can speak all 29+ supported languages. The primary language only determines the voice's native accent, not which languages it can produce.
Which voice model should I use for non-English episodes?
Use the Horizon voice model for the best multilingual quality. It handles emotion, pacing, and emphasis across languages significantly better than the Classic model and is selected by default for all new hosts.
